SS) Session organized by Industry

SS-3. Future management strategies in the chemical industry sector -From "Manufacturing" to "Value creation"-

Organizer(s): Miyaki Hirotaka (Miyaki/Toray Corporate Business Res.), Tamemoto Yoshihiko (MRI), Shiojiri Susumu (Sumitomo Chemical), Matsuda Jun (ex-Chiyoda/ex-Soken Chemical & Engineering), Kosuge Michitaka (Japan Inspection)

The Chemical industry has been engaged in a wide range of business activities, from research and development, manufacturing and sales of basic materials and processed products for all industries, to recycling. This industry has responded to the progress of globalization and the progress and development of a wide range of mid- and downstream industries by supplying products and services through mass production. However, as technological innovation and market demands become more diverse, and as speed and social challenges increase, it is required to pursue and increase added value (both socially and economically) by going steps further from traditional "manufacturing" to promoting "value creation." As international competitiveness declines in Japan, it is becoming more important to transform companies and industries into those that can provide value.
