ST-22 [Trans-Division Symposium]
Integration of Process Development with Information and Environmental Analysis Towards Sustainable Substance Production Systems

Organizers: Horie Takafumi (Osaka Metro. Univ.), Fukushima Yasuhiro (Tohoku Univ.), Kodama Satoshi (Science Tokyo), Hayato Masuda (Osaka Metro. Univ.), Matsumoto Hideyuki (Science Tokyo), Matsuda Keigo (Nagoya Univ.)

As climate change mitigation and the promotion of a circular economy become urgent global priorities, the chemical industry is called upon to transform toward "sustainable substance production systems" that balance the maximization of energy efficiency with the minimization of environmental impact. To achieve this transformation, it is essential to integrate Process Intensification (PI) -which radically advances equipment and operations-with Information Theory and AI, which accelerate the understanding and optimization of complex phenomena, and Environmental Analysis (such as LCA), which multi-dimensionally validates their viability. These should not be treated as independent technologies but fused into a single, cohesive system.
The objective of this symposium is to bring together the latest research across these three domains and discuss the future of next-generation substance production systems from a systems-theory perspective. We invite research presentations from a wide range of fields, including experimental analysis that transcends traditional frameworks, the advancement of modeling and simulation, and the proposal of evaluation methodologies aimed at social implementation.
