Long-term issues such as social healthcare costs, short-term issues such as the stable supply of vaccines and therapeutic agents, and advanced technological issues such as biopharmaceuticals, regenerative medicine, and personalized medicine - The challenges in the pharmaceutical field are spread over a multi-scale space and time, from molecules/ cells to processes and social systems. In this symposium, we will touch on the research examples (e.g., regarding process systems and biotechnology), and discuss the multiscale development potential that lies beyond the solution of individual research challenges. We aim to have a bottom-up discussion, which is possible only when diverse researchers get together. There will be slots for general lectures in addition to invited lectures.
