The late Dr. Hiroshi Ueda, who passed away last December, led the field of biochemical engineering through his pioneering research into the visualization and control of biological activities. We will look back on the achievements of Dr. Ueda and discuss future developments in the field of chemical engineering for life through presentations of the latest results by researchers who has been inspired by Dr. Ueda's works.
